Surah 1 Verse 1-7

Verse 1:
1 As we see it's the opening line of a prayer.(Footnote #1) A nice little prayer to Allah.

2 In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Verse 2:
1 This verse brings alot of questions. What does he by "worlds"? Why did Allah say(Footnote #1) he is the Lord of the Worlds? What does Lords of the World mean?

2 Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds,

Verse 3:
1 Now Allah is just plain bragging

2 The Beneficent, the Merciful.

Verse 4:
1 So what Allah cares about is judging?

2 Master of the Day of Judgment,

Verse 5 Part 1:
1 So is Allah really the God of the Takanh(Footnote #2)

2 Thee (alone) we worship;

Verse 5 Part 2:
1 Allah helps people. Now that is a very good God.

2 Thee (alone) we ask for help.

Verse 6:
1 So Muslims have to ask for the straight path. Doesn't that ruin the purpose of the Qur'an?

2 Show us the straight path,

Verse 7 Part 1:
1 Comment of Verse 6

2 The path of those whom Thou hast favoured;

Verse 7 Part 2:
1 The path of those who have earned is Non-Muslims

2 The path of those whom Thou hast favoured

Footnotes:
#1:Written by Allah; In the third person
#2:They believe that the Takanh was the word of God but then become corrupted

  1. My opinion (I am a Muslim)
#1--Lord of the Worlds---Worlds is plural because God is the creator of the whole Universe and all the worlds (planets) in it including earth. God is also the creator of human beings who have free-will as well as all other creations with or without free-will.
#2--the whole purpose of the Quran is to show the "straight path" whic is about good intentions that lead to good actions---so this prayer in the beginning is very appropriate

  2. missed your other question....God and Judgement---The reason we are given the Quran is so that we can be guided---this Guidance is so that we human beings---who have free-will, can have the chance to make beneficial choices because we will be held accountable for all our intentions and actions on earth. This will be done with Justice ---as the Quran explains----even an atoms weight of good will be considered and if/when we repent for any mistakes, God is most forgiving, most merciful.

  3. @kat Why thanks for the Muslim insight. Sorry I look at your comments earlier.

#1--So Allah created the Universe(or Multiverse) and worlds means planets. I will edit that in shortly

#2--Well I hope people do good actions.

Even though I don't believe in him. Allah be with you!

  4. "Allah be with you!"---Thankyou for your kind sentiments, I like the way you phrased it, though a Muslim usually phrases the greeting/wishes as "May peace be with you" (As salam alaikum)

In Judaism, the Shema defines the relationship between God and the Believer. In Islam, Tawheed (Unity) is the most important concept. Because of Tawheed, some people call Muslims "radical monotheists"

Tawheed (Unity) = God is One, Indivisible, Infinite, Genderless. The Creator of all creation. He/It is independent of the creation whereas the creation is dependent upon him/it.
